PDR Pros FAQ

Have a PDR-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!
  • What is PDR?

Paintless Dent Repair, also termed as Paintless Dent Removal or PDR, is a process that uses specialized tools and lighting systems to undo dents on vehicles' body panels. The dents are handled to restore the metal to its original form.

  • What kind of damage is appropriate for PDR?

Dents and creases that are small to moderate in size can be repaired. PDR is extremely effective in repairing hail damage. Because of this fact, a growing number of insurance companies specify PDR as the preferred method for repairing hail damage.

However, there are limits to what can be repaired with PDR. The following is a list of things that may make PDR inappropriate:

    - Body panels that have been conventionally repaired and repainted

    - Dents with cracked or broken paint

    - Dents that are located within 1/2" of a body panel's edge

Sometimes paintless dent repair is appropriate for some but not all of the damage to your vehicle. In this case, we rely upon our association with the best body shops in the area to repair or replace the severely damaged panel or panels. This is known as a combination of repair and assures that the relevant method of repair is used for each and every panel on your vehicle. We handle all of this as a part of the normal repair process. We'd suggest you have one of our experts give you a free evaluation of the damage on your vehicle to decide the most suitable method of repair.

  • Will I be able to tell if there was damage on the vehicle?

Repairs are completely undetectable for small to medium-sized dents. However, a larger dent can be detected by a trained eye. Most customers are extremely satisfied with PDR repairs. They wish they had known about PDR earlier. When selecting a PDR company make sure that they have a good reputation and that they guarantee their work.

  • Will the value of my vehicle be impacted after PDR?

In a positive way. Vehicles without damage are worth more than ones with damage. Additionally, vehicles that retain their original factory finish may be worth more than those that have had body panels repainted. PDR does not require the use of body fillers or repainting. Therefore, the risk of incorrect paint color matches and overspray are eliminated. Paintless Dent Removal retains your vehicle's original factory finish.

  • Does it matter which PDR technician does the work?

PDR is a blend of science with art. The best PDR technicians are detail-oriented. PDR skills develop over time, so years of experience are important as well. Prefer a local shop. Technicians that live and work in your community will provide better service than technicians that you may never see again!
